Note: Examiner to set eight questions and the candidates are required to attempt any five.
- Introduction: Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, concepts and basic techniques in tissue culture and their application in Pharmaceutical Sciences. (3)
- The Pharmacists’ practitioner’s role in Biotechnology, Introduction and various Biotechnological products.(4)
- Drug Delivery Aspects of Biotechnological Products: Introduction, Stability of peptides and proteins, Non conventional Routes of Administration. (4)
- Micropropagation: Organigenosis and somatic embryogenesis, clinical propagation of eilite germplasm of Pharmaceutical importance. Technical problems in micropropagaton such as vitrification, explant exudation etc. Effect of microenvironmention micropropogation. (6)
- Production and application of synthetic seeds. (3)
- The use of Non-classical techniques in the production of secondary metabolites by Plant Tissue Culture: Plant cell cultures as new alternative sources of secondary natural products. Production of Endogeneous compounds and Transformation Involving Foreign Genes. (5)
- Production of flavoring compounds through tissue culture. (3)
- Antimicrobial agents from plant cell culture. (4)
- Production of anti tumor compounds by plant cell culture. (3)
- Increasing secondary metabolite production in plant cell culture with fungal elicitors. (3)
- Immobilization of cell systems for the production of plant metabolites. (3)
- Production of edible vaccines by successful expression of foreign antigens in genetically engineered plants. (3)
- Application of Bioreactors in large scale production of useful Pharmaceutical products. (3)
