Note: Attempt any five questions. All questions carry equal marks.

  1. (A) What is an indicator? How does it works?
    (B) Write a note on adsorption indicator.
  2. (A) What do you understand by the terms ionization and dissociation. Give Examples.
    (B) Derive an expression for dissociation constant for dibasic acid.
  3. (A) Define with examples the terms ‘conductance’, ‘specific conductance’ and ‘ionic mobility’.
    (B) Construct a titration curve using conductometric technique for titration of a weak acid against strong base.
  4. “Weak acids and weak bases can be titrated using non-aquous solvent”. Justify the statement using suitable example from each case. Discuss the role of solvent in non- aqueous titrations.
  5. Write notes on:
    (A) Ion Exchange Chromatography
    (B) Size Exclusion Chromatography
  6. (A) What are iodimetric and iodometric titration? Give examples of each class.
    (B) How will you prepare 0.1N iodine solution? How 0.1N iodine solution can be standardised?
  7. (A) What are complexes and chelates? Discuss the factors affecting stability of complexes.
    (B) How will you prepare and standardise 0.1M solution of EDTA?
  8. Write short notes on following:
    (A) Precision and Accuracy
    (B) Primary and Secondary standards
    (C) Amperiometric titration
